Another cocktail following in the footsteps of Aviation is the Waterlily.
If you enjoy Aviation but find the bright sweetness of Maraschino Luxardo not to your liking, the Waterlily might be your perfect choice. This variation offers a drier profile, allowing the botanical gin notes and violet aroma to take center stage, beautifully balanced with a hint of orange flavor.
The recipe for the Waterlily was created in 2007 by Richard Boccato at the renowned Little Branch Bar in New York.
Ingredients:
-3/4 oz/22.5 ml London Dry Gin
-3/4 oz/22.5 ml Triple Sec Liqueur
-3/4 oz/22.5 ml Crème de Violette
-3/4 oz/22.5 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
Process:
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled glass.
Garnish – lemon zest.
